About Our Laboratory

Dr. Grainger's lab investigates how the autonomic nervous system regulates the coronary vasculature and how normal pacemaker energy production is affected during disease.

We leverage traditional experimental approaches and combine them with cutting-edge imaging techniques to address our research questions.

  • Single Cell Fluorescent Imaging
  • Whole Tissue Imaging
  • RNA Sequencing
  • Molecular and Protein Analysis

Principal Investigator

Dr. Nathan Grainger

Dr. Nathan Grainger

Research Assistant Professor

Ph.D.

Dr. Nathan Grainger leads a multidisciplinary research program focused on understanding how the microvasculature is regulated in the heart. Dr. Grainger completed his Ph.D. at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2019, followed by a postdoctoral position at UC Davis from 2019-2021. After completing his postdoc, he joined the faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno in the department of Physiology and Cell Biology. Dr. Grainger's lab is currently funded by a COBRE research grant from NIH-NIGMS.
